Press Checks
STEP ONE: The first step to a successful press check is the review of the "makeready" sheet that is pulled off the press for you to view. This is used for proof reading content material only and not for final color approval. Check any final copy changes that were made on the proof, inspect design elements, and check the position of art and type. Also, check paper weight and paper finish to ensure they are correct.
STEP TWO: This is your chance to check print quality. Take your time with this sheet! Take a glance to get a first impression and then look for specifics. Check the color. Make sure fleshtones are realistic. Check registration to ensure crisp edges and clean knockouts. Always check for hot spots, broken type, scratches, and dirt. Tip: When making changes, explain what the problem is and let the Whitmore Press Operator determine how to fix it.
FINAL STEP: Don't Sign off until you are happy with the product and after all your changes have been made!!! Tip: Make sure you save duplicates of all materials that you have signed off on and take them back to the office with you to keep on file for reference.
